ABOUT OZ AGAC IS UNION
Established in 1980, Öz Ağaç-İş Union is the largest Turkish union which operates for workers in the sector of wood, paper, furniture and chipboard with more than 11 thousand members in organized workplaces in 10 Turkish provinces. Having its head office in Ankara, Öz Ağaç-İş Union has branches in Ankara, Kayseri, Bursa, İzmir, Düzce, Canakkale, Diyarbakır and Sakarya. It has more than one hundred experienced staff members as the representatives of its Head Office, branches and workplaces. Source of income of Öz Ağaç-İş Union consists of the dues collected from its members, and the trade associates established within the Union.
Operating for workers with intense labour power employed in a sector of highly dangerous and dangerous occupations, Öz Ağaç-İş Union mainly aims to sign and operate under agreements that protect and support the rights of its workers based on the human rights.
In this context, it is the union with the highest responsibility in finding solutions to the primary problems of the sector. Our union, our branches in the regions where we are organized and our representatives in workplaces always stand by our members, listen to our members’ problems and requests, and our Union Administration fulfils the problems and requests in the shortest time.
Öz Ağaç-İş Union has provided awareness and difference for its members with its activities, events and projects in addition to signing Collective Labour Agreements that stipulate monetary and social gains for its workers in organized workplaces. All of these have caused us to become the Union with the biggest number of members in our sector with about 300 thousand employees. In spite of the fact that we are a sector with intense labour power, approximately 20% of the members of Öz Ağaç-İş Union consists of Women and the Disabled, and our union attaches great importance to acquire gains for positive discrimination for its Women and Disabled employees in Collective Labour Agreements signed with workplaces.
